About

I am an author myself, and I know firsthand how important the editing and proofreading phases are to publishing. Amazon doesn’t like errors and they aren’t shy about telling you when your book has them. They will pull a book that hasn’t corrected them. Possible Amazon issues aside, errors pull readers out of the story and that’s the last thing an author wants to happen.

I’ve been publishing my own books for nearly ten years, and editing and proofreading for author friends almost as long. My love of writing, and all things related to the process (including editing and proofreading) go all the way back to elementary school. I was the kid writing short stories and book reports for extra credit. I was also the kid acing grammar tests. Writing is a cherished form of communication, and I take it seriously.

Your manuscript will be treated as the valued project it is, and it will get my full attention. It is not an item on a production line that I’ll rush through to get to the next project. I will take whatever time your manuscript needs. I keep my bookings spaced to allow for plenty of individualized time.

Each service includes two meetings by video chat or phone. (Don’t scurry away, my fellow introverted writers! The meetings are optional. We can accomplish the same goals in email, if that’s more to your comfort.) The first meeting is scheduled after booking my services so we can can discuss your needs and expectations before the work begins. The second is scheduled after you receive your edited/proofread manuscript back and have a chance to go through it.

I edit and proofread using the Chicago Manual of Style. My chosen area to work in is fiction. (US English) I have no preference for genre and will work on children’s books to horror–and everything in between.

If you have a style sheet for your manuscript, please provide it and I will work from that.

When you hire me, you can expect truth, follow through, and confidentially.
